Two Rightious amongst the Nations of the World

Douglas Murray

Britain's Little Anti-Semitism Problem

I have just read an outstanding article published in the excellent Internet Site http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/ entitled "Britain's Little Anti-Semitism Problem" in which Douglas Murray, a graduate of Eton and Oxford, described by Wikipedia as "...a British neoconservative writer and [right wing] commentator...", has written about the problems faced by British Jews.

Everything he has written is true yet you will find no British Jew who would dare to pen such opinions. This righteous Goy writes that Anglo Jewry is in a state of denial when it comes to blatant Anti-Semitism in mainstream British culture. After commentating on the outrage by Britain's Jewish leaders directed at Jerusalem Post's journalist Caroline Glick's statement:

I can say without hesitation that I hope never to return to Britain. I actually don't see any point. Jews are targeted by massive anti-Semitism of both the social and physical varieties. Why would anyone Jewish want to live there?

Douglas Murray concludes:
"What these...things have in common is now unmistakeable -- as are the conclusions we must draw from them.
Jews will continue to live in Britain, and in the main, continue to live perfectly peaceful and pleasant lives. But there will be a price. And that price will be the volume of their support for Israel. For the "decent" mainstream has made a decision: Israelis are now what the Nazis were then. The Israelis are the easy target for needed outrage, the focal-center of pretended morality and the diversionary enemy in an era where the real problems seem too large to tackle.
Naturally there will be enough people to continue for a while to demand the odd complaint about this or that. They may manage to force a backtrack here and there. But these will be forced not because anybody has been persuaded of the complete wrong-headedness of what they have said – nor because they have realized the unbelievable wickedness and inaccuracy of their claims – but simply because the "timing" may have been inappropriate, or it should not have been said in this way, or on this or that day, or to these or those people. What all these events have in common is that they demonstrate that the friends of truth are losing. Any wins on these terms are skirmish wins in a war which has turned against the Jewish people."

The Pope was Not a Friend of the Jews.

Giulio Meotti
I found it incredulous the outpouring of praises heaped upon the soon to be retired Pope by Israeli politians, World Jewish leaders and the Chief Rabbis, including the Israeli Chief Rabbi in yesterday's press. No, I am not refering to the fact that the current Pope was a member of the Hitler Youth as a child. A person can change after all. I am speaking however about his offical statements. Here is a man who has never ever spoken the words "The State of Israel", preferring the term "Holy Land" but does not miss an opportunity to speak about "The State of Palestine" which does not actually exist (for the moment). Here is a person who speaks of the Palestinians as "God's blessed people" and implies that although he disagrees with terrorism, he understands the motivation behind it seeing how the Palestinans suffer so much at the hands of the Israelis. He deligitimises Israel and the Jewish people at every occasion and yet somehow these Jewish leaders feel it appropiate to call him a friend!?

Well, today in Arutz 7 they published an article by another righteous Goy by the name of Giulio Meotti, an Italian journalist. He writes that:
"...The contrary is the case. The Pope has not been a friend of the Jewish people and he supported the world's most important source of anti-Semitism: the Palestinianism."
About terrorism he writes:
"Pope Benedict did not condemn Arab terrorism, but launched an appeal to young [Arab] people: “Have the courage to resist any temptation you may feel to resort to acts of violence or terrorism.” His words “temptation for terrorism” hinted at the Vatican’s claim that Israeli policy is the root of Palestinian terrorism, while the truth is exactly the opposite."
Read the full article here: The Pope was Not a Friend of the Jews

Some have put forward the argument that he was a good Pope to the Jews if you compare him to the top possible replacements for the position. Unlike the current Pope, they are forthright in their anti-Zionism and blatant anti-Semitism. They preach "Supersessionism" and publicly support the ancient Catholic "Replacement theology". This theology states that "The Church" are the new chosen people who have superceeded the Jews. The Jews are to be hated and despised being that God has cursed them for all their wicked sins, (primary for rejecting His Messiah). Many historians of Jewish history see this theology as the route and major cause of imbred anti-semitism throughout Europe which calminated in the Shoah and the murder of six million Jews.

The return of the Jewish people from the four corners of the earth and the establisment of the State of Israel is in direct contradiction to this theology, so it is not surprising that you will find these Catholic leaders at the forefront of Anti-Zionist and Pro-Palestinian demonstations.

That the current Pope does not openly espouse this theology does not mean that he rejects it. There is no justifiction to call him a friend! I think we will be in a better position when we can clearly recognise who our enemies are. At the same time, we should give better recognition to who our true friends are.

Baruch Hashem that there are still righteous amongst the nations of the world who are our true friends, who say what needs to be said when our Jewish leaders are too scared to. May Hashem bless them and protect them. Amen.

Classic antisemitism from Palestinians and the British establishment

"Jews were corrupt and brought tragedy on the Europeans ...Faced with the Jews' [evil] schemes, Europe could not bear their character traits, monopolies, corruption, and their control and climbing up positions in government,...In 1290, King Edward I issued a decree banishing the Jews [from England]. Following him were France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Spain and Italy. The European nations felt that they had suffered a tragedy by providing refuge for the Jews. Later the Jews obtained the Balfour Declaration, and Europe saw it as an ideal solution to get rid of them..."
Please note that this is from the "moderate" Palestinian Authority TV.

The British Mainstream Media constantly tell you that Hamas (Chamas) are the extremists and the Palestinian Authority (who call themselves Fatach) are the moderate Palestinians who want peace. This is blatent lie.

The truth is that both Hamas and the PLO Mahmoud Abbas say openly that their goal is to wipe Israel off the map and murder every Jew they can get their hands on. Sometimes humour brings the message home more than actual documented facts so here is Latma TV with an explanation of the difference between Hamas and Fatah.

The obsessive hatred for Israel shown in Britain's MSM is simply antisemitism with a modern twist.

The breading grounds for British media antisemitism starts in the universities.

Despite overwhelming proof brought before the university's authoroties that an invited speaker to an Oxford debate was an out and out fraud and liar, it didn't bother them at all. This despicable woman says things that the British academic elite desperately want to believe, no matter whether it is true or not.

This irrational emotional need of the MSM as well as British academia to believe every piece of anti-Israel news, whether unconfirmed or even proved a hoax can only be due to a deep seated hatred for Jews.

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/164702

Caroline Glick writes about how she participated in a university debate in London hoasted by the "Intelligence Squared" society, a society made up of the elite of British students.

http://www.carolineglick.com/e/2013/01/bye-bye-london.php

She writes:

"I was prepared to conduct a civilized debate based on facts and reasoned argumentation. I expected it to be a difficult experience. I was not expecting to be greeted by a well-dressed mob. My pessimism about Europeans' capacity to avail themselves to reasoned, fact-based argumentation about Israel has only deepened from the experience."

Some further snippets from her article:

"...First, I can say without hesitation that I hope never to return to Britain. I actually don't see any point. Jews are targeted by massive anti-Semitism of both the social and physical varieties. Why would anyone Jewish want to live there?
As to visiting as an Israeli, again, I just don't see the point. The discourse is owned by anti-Israel voices. They don't make arguments to spur thought, but to end it, by appealing to people's passions.
For instance, in one particularly ugly segment, Levy made the scurrilous accusation that Israel systematically steals land from the Palestinians. Both Dayan and I demanded that he provide just one example of his charge. And the audience raged against us for our temerity at insisting that he provide substantiation for his baseless allegation. In the event, he failed to substantiate his allegation.
At another point, I was asked how I defend the Nazi state of Israel. When I responded by among other things giving the Nazi pedigree of the Palestinian nationalist movement founded by Nazi agent Haj Amin el Husseini and currently led by Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas, the crowd angrily shouted me down.
I want to note that the audience was made up of upper crust, wealthy British people, not unwashed rabble rousers. And yet they behaved in many respects like a mob when presented with pro-Israel positions."

British Jewry refuses to understand that they are not dealing here with an uninformed but good meaning press that given enough information and facts, would balance its reporting to be less anti-Israel. What so many British Jews refuse to recognise is that there is an inbred antisemitism within the heart of the elite of Britain which cannot be combatted with mere truth.

The Great Whisky Boycott Debate

A lot has been said and written about a threatened whisky boycott by the Jewish world due to the Anti-Zionist policies of the Scottish Nationalist Socialist West Dunbartonshire council and in particular, the anti-Semitic comments of one communist racist council member, Jim Bollan.

Report: Scottish boycott leader defends Fogel killers

Scottish councilor: Hamas are freedom fighters

Scotland: Glasgow districts boycott Israeli books

The Conservative and Reform Movements

I noticed that the call to boycott has been taken up by The Reform and Conservative Masorti movements Kiddush clubs. Considering the Reform and Conservative’s poor record of support for Israel in the past, it does leave me slightly puzzled.

The Conservative/Masorti as well as the Reform movements are involved in many left wing pro-Palestinian organisations such as the grotesquely named “Rabbis For Human Rights” organisation. This organisation in particular thinks it’s the “Jewish way” to demand the dismantling of Army checkpoints and the security fences which have saved numerous Jewish lives. Their misplaced and corrupted sense of morality gives aid to Israel’s enemies.

See article in Haaretz for example:

http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/conservative-rabbis-demand-colleagues-quit-rabbis-for-human-rights-1.69207

The idea of a boycott

The boycott idea seems to have originated from the pro Zionist blog Muqata. I am very uncomfortable about this boycott for a number of reasons.

Before I begin I feel it’s only fair to say that I’m not objective in this issue as I love Scotland, having visited there many times and am crazy about Single Malt Whisky so confess a bias from the start.

I wrote to the Muqata blog today and am waiting for an answer to my question as to why the blog’s owner selected these whisky companies for a boycott. Muqata kindly published my comment here:

http://muqata.blogspot.com/2011/05/official-scotch-whisky-counter-boycott.html

As I explained in my comment post on the blog, the headquarters of Morrison Bowmore are in Glasgow city centre and Bowmore distillery is on the Isle of Islay. The same company however does own a distillery in West Dunbartonshire called Auchintoshan. I'll give them that one.

By the way, until a few years ago, Morrison Bowmore's Computer department head was an Orthodox Jew who had served in the IDF! The company is very much involved in kosher whisky production and possible batches of kosher wine casks in cooperation with Israeli vineyards. Any Whisky company that works directly with Israeli companies (such as Bruichladdich of Islay) should certainly not be on the boycott. (Personally speaking, I'd recommend not drinking Bowmore anyway as its pretty awful stuff. However Glen Garioch and Auchintoshan are quite good).

The Glenlivet distillery is in the Speyside region and is owned by Chivas Brothers whose headquarters are in Paisley which is in the council area of Renfrewshire which is south of West Dunbartonshire. Why the boycott on them?

The third company on the list is Loch Lomond. Loch Lomond's headquarters and distillery are in Alexandria which is within the Strathclyde Regional Council. So why boycott them?

I do think though, that with enough pressure on Morrison Bowmore, they might be willing to make a public statement condemning their own council’s policy. It would certainly endear them to the many whisky drinkers within Am Yisrael and probably increase their sales.

What would Purim be like without a Chumantashen with a glass of Auchintoshan?

YNET article on how the religious Jew "deals" with Yom HaShoah

Rav Yuval Sherlo is Rosh Yeshiva of Petach Tikva Hesder yeshiva. He appears regularly on the YNET Internet site, (the online site for Yediot Achronot national newspaper) where he declares his latest halachic opinions on some quite controversial subjects. The problem is, (and I’m sure that he is aware of this) that YNET’s secular reporters more than often misinterpret and twist his words in order to sensationalise and titillate their readers. Even if this weren’t the case, I question the use of a secular national newspaper as a medium to discuss halacha.

YNET’s latest piece on Rav Sherlo is entitled:

'Religion should deal with Shoah [The Holocaust] too!'

A loaded headline if ever I saw one. It's obvious implication is that Orthodox Jewry is not dealing with the Shoah!

I simply don’t know where to begin. The article is so full of distortions and missing so many facts that it is, intentionally or not, a slander against religious Jews.

One example is the answer YNET attributes to Rav Sherlo to this quite legitimate question:

"My question refers to the Counting of the Omer – why are there mourning customs in memory of Rabbi Akiva's students, when there were much graver incidents in Jewish history?!”

I have no idea how accurate YNET’s reporting of what Rav Sherlo said is but the quoted reply is simply pathetic. It sounds like something a secular Jew would write.

The simple answer to this question is that never in all of our history have the Jewish people been so close to destruction. With the death of Rabbi Akiva’s students, it looked as if Torah and mesora (tradition) would be lost. Without these, the Jewish people cannot survive. Only through a miracle, was Torah and the Jewish people saved from annihilation. The Shoah was indeed one of the greatest catastrophes that have occurred to the Jewish people but it is not the greatest. Yes, it’s true that a third of Jewry was murdered but the Jewish people survived. So what was the greatest tragedy that has befallen the Jewish people?

Well, some historical background is needed at this point. The Gedolei HaDor (religious leaders) in the 1940s/50s discussed the issue of the date for Yom HaShoah (or indeed if such a day was needed at all), very carefully. The Rabbanim were very much against observing a day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust specifically on the 27th Nissan as this is the day of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.

The secular politicians specifically chose this day in order to commemorate the Jewish heroes who fought back against the Nazis. This served their interests which was to negate the image of the old diaspora weak pathetic Jew of old and to promote an image of “the new Jew”, the strong Jew who built the new modern State of Israel.

However the Rabbanim saw this political decision as shallow and opportunist and an insult to all those Jews who were murdered and did not have the opportunity to fight back. It looked as if the State of Israel only wished to remember and honour those who fought back and to ignore the rest. It was as if this new brave State was ashamed of them! They were effectively being labelled as cowards who went to their deaths like sheep to the slaughter.

Instead the Rabbanim incorporated the memory of all the victims of the Holocaust into the fast of the 10th Tevet as well as the 9th Av as suitable days to remember the victims with tephila (prayers) and kinot (religious poems). This is how religious Jews "deal" with the subject!

Both these dates commemorate the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash (the Temple) which led to the terrible exile of the Jewish people. This single event marks the start of all the tragedies which the Jewish people have suffered because of the 2,000 year exile, including the Holocaust. Therefore these dates are the most suitable to commemorate the victims of the Shoah. That is, in its proper context of the whole of Jewish history.

Listen to Rav Zev Leff Shlit”a’s shiur on the subject here:

An Open Letter To British Jewry

An Open Letter To British Jewry.
I really hope all of you take the time to watch Channel Four’s “The Promise”. A hate feast of lies, distortions, unadulterated anti-Israel propaganda and pure Jewish hatred. More importantly, see how much most of Britain loved it!
Read and savour the utterly delighted, rapturous and euphoric reviews from all the major British News Papers who cannot praise the drama enough for its bravery to tell “the truth” about those Jews despite the power of what they truly believe is the satanic Zionist control of the media.
Peruse through the talk backs and comments and see that 95% of the writers are all too willing to believe every blood libel against Jews and that anyone who tries to set the record straight is jumped upon and accused of being part of the great evil Zionist plot. Finally the truth is out. Jews are terrorists, worse than Nazis, the scum of the earth and responsible for all evil in the world.
The British today feel that they have been finally released from the shackles of accusations of anti-Semitism. For too long the British will tell you, ,the Jews, through their manipulation and power have used the Holocaust to make themselves a protected species since WWII but now  it’s open season on those Jews in Britain today.
Afterall, everyone is doing it in Britain. Parliament, The Church of England, The Left, The Right, all are screaming that there is no problem which the Jews cannot be blamed for.
See what is really in so many British hearts as their hatred spews and oozes out from every orifice with such relief and joy.
There are Goyim in Britain who are not anti-Semitic, who do know the truth in their hearts but, for the most part, they are weak and are unwilling or unable to protect or defend you against such overwhelming odds. It is fashionable and cool in the UK to hate Israel and Jews. As the sign below says, its now "kosher" to hate those Zionists.

Watch and take a good, long hard look at what the British really think of you.
Look at the facts. You are scared and with good reason. Your schools and shuls need guards to protect your children. Even if you are brave enough to send your children to Jewish schools, you rip off the kippa and tzittit from your child’s body as soon as you leave the premises, lest anyone see that you are Jewish.
In the work place you are constantly nervous and on edge, waiting for the next anti-Israel remark. If you dare to open your mouth you are accused of being a Zionist apologist, defending the indefensible.
Meanwhile, the Muslims, who pose a real and imminent threat to British lives, to its democracy, freedom of speech, human rights and morality; they are to be supported and loved.
The British truly want to believe with all their hearts that the massacre in Jenin really did take place, Mohammed Al-Dura was murdered by Israeli soldiers, the Gaza strip is worse than a concentration camp, the Palestinians have been living in the land for thousands of years, the Jews were not really ever there. The Jewish Temple never really existed. Israel and the Jewish Kings are religious metaphors at most and evil Jewish lies forced upon them through the Jew’s Bible. The Holocaust was probably hugely exaggerated and even though the overwhelming majority of Britain is not religious, everyone knows that the Jews killed God and every Jew in every place who ever lived or will live throughout history is to blame!
Now take a good hard look at yourself and dare to ask a question which you know must be asked but up until now, have been too terrified to do so.
What are you doing in that miserable country?
Come home.

Neturei Karta Placard

On the 26th July, the Blogger "Snappedshot" reported that on the 23rd July, a young member of the tiny anti-Israel Neturei Karta sect, was photographed by Reutors holding up a poster next to a Palestinian flag during a weekly demonstration in Sheikh Jarrah in east Jerusalem.

The placard reads in Hebrew "Jews are not Tzionim"

I suggest that this guy should have paid a bit more attention to Megilas Eicha (Lamentations) which we read in shul last Tisha beAv (a week ago) where the navi (prophet) Yermiyahu refers to the Jews of Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) as "Tzion"

Eicha 4:1-2

1. Alas! The gold (the people of Jerusalem – Rashi) is dimmed! The finest gold (people) is changed! Sacred stones are scattered at the head of every street! 2. The precious children of Tzion (the children of Jerusalem) who are comparable to fine gold – alas they are now treated like clay jugs, the work of the potter.

The Chazon Ish (ZT"L)

No one knew The Neturei Karta better than Rav Avraham Yishayahu Karelitz (ZT"L) – better known as The Chazon Ish.

You could certainly not accuse the Chazan Ish of being a Zionist but this is what he had to say about Neturei Karta: (taken from the Chareidi Internet Site "Dei'ah veDibur")

When people from Neturei Karta came to the Chazan Ish from Yerushalayim and asked him to issue a protest against the Ponovezher Rov, he castigated them and said, "So you come from Yerushalayim and presume to teach us [in Bnei Berak] what to do?"

His bochrim relate how one young member of the Neturei Karta delegation spoke arrogantly with such chutzpe to the Chazon Ish. This young man did not live out the year.

Maran the Chazn Ish, voiced his opinion of Neturei Karta; "They are Jews from before the Giving of the Torah . . ." What he meant was that their hashkafa (outlook) was not guided by the ways of the Torah.

Maran R' Yitzchok Zeev Soloveitchik of Brisk (ZT"L)

Another Godel from that period, Maran R' Yitzchok Zeev Soloveitchik of Brisk (ZT"L) would battle against the secular Zionists and the Zionist establishment and was not any less uncompromising and extreme than that of Neturei Karta. But he employed different tactics.

R Soloveitchik's words to Neturei Karta regarding their demonstrations are often quoted.

"Would you have dared demonstrate against the government in such a manner back in Russia? Why, you would have feared for your very lives! Why then, here, in Eretz Yisroel, do you demonstrate against the Zionists? It just goes to show that you believe that the Zionists wouldn't treat you as the Russian government would have! If so, then in your heart of hearts you are no more than Zionists, yourselves . . ."

Here are some pictures of members of this little sect that justify support for Arab terrorism and the murder of all Jews (who are not part of Neturei Karta I suppose?)

The three Shevuos (Oaths).

The corner stone of Neturie Karta's anti-Israel stance is a Gemora in Kesubas.

In meseches Kesubas קי"א the gemera talks of three shevuos (oaths).

1. Upon Am Yisrael: From the churban (the destuction of the Beis HaMikdash) the Jewish people must not return to Eretz Yisrael "like a wall" on mass and recapture the land by force.

2. Upon Am Yisrael: Not to rebel against the nations of the world.

3. Upon the Goyim: That they should not make Am Yisrael's life unbearable in chutz la'aretz (outside the Land of Israel).

Neturei Karta use this gemara (based on the psak of the Megillas Esther - R. Yitzchak De Leon, Lyon/Toledo/Castile, died 1480s) as a basis for their psak that bizman hazeh, it is forbidden to establish a Jewish state in Eretz Yisrael.

Rabbi Yissocher Frand, maggid shiur in Yeshivas Ner Yisroel in Baltimore, MD, points out that this position is very difficult to understand. (He is being diplomatic).

The section of gemara which the Megillas Esther brings is agada (a story brought by the Talmud) and not part of a halachic discussion. Rav Frand points out that you cannot bring agada as a basis for a psak halacha (a halachic ruling). Moreover, no one else brings this as halacha including Ramba"m, Shulchan Aruch etc.

Despite the above, Rav Frand asks for argument sake that if this agada could be brought as halacha, are the Shavuos (oaths) binding upon us today? The shavuah states that we must not go up on mass and take the land by force. This says nothing of each individual's obligation to settle in Eretz Yisrael.

However one could argue that the establishment of the State of Israel was accomplished by Jews returning to Eretz Yisrael on mass and taking the land by force. Therefore, according to the Megilas Esther's psak, this would be forbidden. This is indeed the shita of The Satmah Rebbi, Rav Yoel Titlebaum.

Rav Frand continues that with respect to the Satmah Rebbi, it is clear that after World War I, Britain, who had just taken control of Eretz Yisrael accepted the mandate from the League of Nations to establish a Jewish homeland in Eretz Yisrael. (See the Balfour Declaration of 1917). The goyim had given their permission for Jews to return to Eretz Yisrael on mass and thereby cancelled the shavuah. Even if one does not accept this, after World War II, no one could argue that the goyim had kept their side of the shavuah by not making our lives so unbearable in chutz la'aeretz after the events of HaShoah (the Holocaust)! The goyim thereby made the shavuah null and void.

You are NOT alone

This is a shocking video about the bombardment of Anti-Israel propaganda in America's universities:

I heard yesterday that the enemies of the Israel are planning their next stage of attack. This one they hope will prove the most devastating yet. It is another ship to try and break the Israeli blockade. However this ship will not be full of Turkish jihadists. This ship will be full of European and American Jews!

I keep hearing the same thing from Israelis. They say that they don't see the point of arguing our case, not just to the Goyim (The Nations of the World) but also to Jews living outside of Israel! Bombarded with anti-Israel opinions day in and day out there is surely nothing we can do as they have already made up their minds and are no longer listening.

However we should never stop arguing our case because there are those who are listening, those who feel they are in a boat far from land, being tossed about in a storm with nothing to grab hold of. Those who are looking for the truth will hear it. We must continue to get that message out.

Far more painful than any security council resolution in the UN, any statement made by any foreign government or any demonstration held anywhere in the world, is a hafganah (demonstration) by Jews, screaming that we are robbers of the land.

Indeed, the very first Rashi in sefer Bereishis informs us that the only point in relating the story of creation is to remind us that Hashem rules the universe and gave Eretz Yisrael to the Jewish people. Rav Zev Leff explains that this lesson is not meant for the Goyim. No Jewish leader has ever used the lesson of this first Rashi to argue Israel's right to the land with the Goyim. The message is for us, the Jewish people to absorb.

We must first be convinced that Hashem gave Eretz Yisrael to the Jewish people.

See Rav Zev Leff's Parshas HaShavuah here

The original agenda of the Zionist movement of the 19th century was to strip the Jew of his/her Torah and produce a new modern Jew who would return to their national homeland and could hold his/her head up high amongst the nations of the world, sharing common socialist cultural, secular, humanist values. However, what the great Zionist thinkers failed to realise was that the Jew's only claim and indeed connection to Eretz Yisrael is through Torah. What has happened is that a generation of secular Jews both in Israel and outside, have grown up with no concept of our right to this land outside of secular arguments. Most of these secular arguments no longer hold any water today. For instance, that the State of Israel will cause anti-Semitism to disappear. As a result, we are now at a stage where secular Jewish University students in Israeli as well as foreign universities are arguing that we stole the land from the Arabs.

I can just imagine the agony of the departed neshamos (soles) of those early Zionists, who did their best to strip the Jew of Hashem and His Torah, looking down on the their offspring in Rabin Square, screaming for the return of Eretz Yisrael to the Arabs.

Not only is this due to the previous generation's attempt to substitute Torah Judaism with a new religion called Secular Zionism but also their obsession to be accepted as part of the socialist modern, secular, humanist enlightened world. This obsession has led to organisations such as Amnesty International Israel division, accusing their own relatives and friends of being war criminals. They know it's not true yet they cannot argue against their enlightened masters in America and Europe who tell them that they are.

How is this possible? Well if you are convinced that the rest of the world represents enlightenment in all things and they all agree that Israel should not exist then it takes a very strong willed person indeed to continue to resist.

The Asch Experiment

Solomon Eliot Asch was a world renowned psychologist who is most famous for his experiments into the power of group pressure. Asch was a holocaust survivor from Warsaw, Poland. He wanted to try and understand how so many people went along with Nazi doctrine even though on the face of it (according to his understanding), it went against all that he believed that the Europeans believed to be moral.

Here is a video showing the Asch experiment in practice:

Faced with continued and persistent pressure by the group that you are wrong and everyone else is right, most people will eventually yield to the majority, no matter how much they initially understand their own position to be correct.

We see this phenomenon in Parshas Shelach. Only two leaders resisted the other leader's poisonous words against Eretz Yisrael. Calev and Yehoshua Bin Nun.

Rashi explains that Calev's personality was that of a rebel. This word usually has negative connotations but Chaza"l explain that all midos (personality traits) are "pareve", that is, neither good nor bad. It all depends on how these traits are applied.

Rashi explains (BeMidbar 13:22) that Calev split from the others and went to Chevron to davan at the keva of our Avos. He did not care what the others thought of him for he was determined to do what he considered was right in Hashem's eyes. In "Asch" terms, he represents the special individual who has the ability to resist group pressure.

However Yehoshua Bin Nun, despite being a Talmud Chacham and Moshe Rabeinu's main talmid, had the personality that made him yearn for acceptance amongst his contemporaries. Therefore, Moshe had to add Hashem's name to Yehoshua's in order to give him chizuk to resist his fellow leaders who he so much respected and admired but who he knew in his heart were wrong.

Faced with the constant bombardment of an anti-Israel agenda in the world's media as well as both by teachers and fellow students at university, it takes a special individual like Calev to continue to stand up for what he/she knows is the truth. One such individual was the 16 year old boy called Daniel in the video post "Daniel in the Lions's Den".

As the Asch's experiments show, most people are not like Calev. However, it is important to remember what the Asch experiment also showed. That when just one other person supports your position, no matter how many more are against you, 95% of people continue to resist and do not yield to the overwhelming majority position when he/she knows that there is someone else who holds the same position.

We must not leave our fellow Jews alone. It is our job as Yiras Shemayim Torah Jews living in Eretz Yisrael to give those living in Chutz LaAretz the chizuk to resist the lies.

Israel Stands Alone, The Ramba”n’s shul

yatedarticle
I’ve just read a truly excellent editorial in an Israeli/American newspaper.

Entitled “Israel Stands Alone”, the editorial discusses the fact that Israel was blamed by the whole world before any of the facts came out. The editorial harshly criticises the American government accusing it of abandoning its closest friend and ally.

It then aims its guns at Liberal Jews and informs us that a liberal secular Jew was far more likely to support the Palestinian cause than support Israel today and that secular Jews were abandoning Zionism where as the trend in the Orthodox community is exactly the opposite with more and more religious Jews identifying with Israel and Zionism.

Read the full piece here: Israel Stands Alone

Oh, did I mention that this editorial appears in this week’s Chareidi newspaper “Yated Neeman? No?

Well, the editorial appears in this week’s Chareidi “anti-Zionist” newspaper, “Yated Neeman”.

The irony is that the cheloni (secular) Israeli press including Ynet, The Jerusalem Post and Haaretz are becoming increasingly anti-Chareidi with articles intended to incite secular Israelis to hatred towards religious Jews. This trend could well be due to Chareidim taking a more active role in Israeli society including the army and politics.

The chelonim look with envy at the Chareidim and their emunah (faith) in Hashem, their commitment to Torah, their solid connection to Jewish history and connection with Eretz Yisrael, their idealism, confidence and enthusiasm in life.

They attack the Chareidim, oblivious to the fact that their traditional friends, the secular liberal left of America have ceased to identify with the leftwing Israelis because, due to assimilation and a total lack of Jewish education, American Jews have ceased to identify with Israel altogether.

Meanwhile, the American Orthodox communities of all streams, are feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the United States under Obama and are looking towards Yerushalayim.

As it happens, I’ve just spent the last two evenings in the Old City with my kids, taking part in school outings. We davened in the newly rebuilt Churva HaRamba”n shul which was destroyed by the Jordanians in 1948 and kept in ruins by the Israeli authorities for decades after liberation because they wanted it kept as a permanent reminder of what the Arabs did. However, because of constant pressure, the shul is now rebuilt and in use 24 hours a day.

I have to admit shedding tears of joy and gratitude to Hakodesh Baruch Hu as we davened Shmoneh Esrei in this beautiful place. Kedusha could be felt bouncing off of every wall.

The current news as well as these outings got me thinking. Surely we are witnessing with our own eyes, the hand of Hashem as He guides us steadily towards Geula Shlemah, beyameinu, Amen.

One big mouthed "Zionist" Arab terrorist Hitler Lover

David Horowitz was speaking at the University of California (UCSD), bastion of liberalism and freedom, a few days ago. After giving a speech on the dangers of Arab terrorism, a large mouthed Arab woman stood up and pretended to ask a question while actually making a speech. You could tell where this was going when she started to mention the Hitler Youth. David asks her repeatedly if she will condemn terrorism. She tries to dodge the question. He then asks her a very simple and chilling question. Her answer shows that she is a big "Zionist" because she'd love for all Jews to come and live in Israel…so that…(just watch it!)

That American, Canadian and British universities do nothing about their students who possess ideologies of pure evil shows that the lessons of the Second World War have been totally lost. Those who tolerate or turn a blind eye to such haters are themselves evil.

So what is the most Pro-Zionist newspaper in Israel?

(Apologies for not posting for a long time. I've been busy with my son's Bar Mitzvah. Only Simchas!)

So what is the most Pro-Zionist newspaper in Israel?

The World's Main Stream Media and their war against the Jews

One of the proofs that Anti-Zionism is actually Anti-Semitism in disguise is the many articles in main stream national newspapers all over Europe and America, questioning the State of Israel's right to exist.

Think of all the countries in the world throughout history that have committed the most appalling acts. Has anyone written that because of these things, any of these countries should cease to exist? The MSM wages a relentless war against Israel, printing every lunatic lie of rumoured atrocities on their front page without waiting for confirmation or any reliable sources. Yet, when the rumours are proved false, Israel receives a tiny apology hidden away somewhere on page 16 and that's if we are lucky. They continue to throw mud and some of it is sticking. The goal of this war is the destruction of the State of Israel.

If proof be needed that some of this mud is sticking, just contemplate that for the past 10 years, polls carried out in Europe have consistantly showed Israel as the No.1 greatest threat to the world, well ahead of Iran, North korea China, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela or Russia.

Israel is hated for being a parasite upon the world, Israelis as being an inferior race, actually not even a people (a common British view) – but at the same time the Jewish people are accused of dominating the world economy and taking over the world.

Israel is hated because it is claimed that they stubbornly maintain their separateness – yet banned from International organisations that would otherwise accept any tin pot state or banana republic.

Israel was established to be a safe haven for Jews who Europe had persecuted, stolen from, tortured, raped, murdered and finally tried to annihilate in The Holocaust. Yet Europe is at the forefront in the call to "peacefully" dismantle the State of Israel in a civilised manner, as opposed to the Arabs who simply wish to murder every single Israeli and throw our bodies into the sea.

The United Nations racism committee was set up as a direct result of the Holocaust against the Jews, yet today is being used as a major weapon by Anti-Semites to persecute Jews and the Jewish State. You just cannot make this stuff up! Had these facts been a plot for a fictional novel, it would have been rejected by the publishers as being beyond plausibility.

The list of contradictions towards the State of Israel goes on yet all can be explained with this simple statement.

First comes the hatred, then the justification. This is the very definition of classic anti-Semitism.

Instead of supporting Israel, Israel's MSM joins in attacking Israel and Judaism

The Israeli government is still in a state of denial. It has no resources to cope with the fact that the media war against us is in fact anti-Semitism.

Likewise the MSM in Israel bends over backwards to try and be accepted within the international community, showing its liberal, left wing credentials yet is looked upon with the distrust of De Sturmer.

Instead of defending their own country by explaining the lies of the international media against Israel, in a pathetic attempt to be accepted within world media, Israeli newspapers actually print anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic articles themselves.

Take for example this disgusting opinion piece published in Yediat Achronot last week and their Internet site – Ynet.

In a two part article no less, this major national Israeli newspaper published the anti-Semitic rantings of a sick individual called Benny Levy, claiming to be chairman of an organisation called "Shivah" or "Zionism Now". He asks if Israel is in fact not the cause of hatred of Jews around the world and tells us that we ought to be seriously thinking about dismantling our state ourselves. I've waited for a statement from YNet that their site had been hacked by ne-nazis who placed the article on their pages or that in fact the article was meant as a subtle Purim joke. However I have to tell you that no such statement has been published.

Doing a Google for this organisation does not return one result of an internet site for them. However, this man and his "organisation" is being quoted by every anti-Semitic site on the WWW.

One anti-Semite, after quoting Mr Levy's article at length from Ynet concludes with the words:

"There's nothing magical about the 'success' of jews -- they're simply a highly organized and networked gang of thieves and murderers that have been perfecting their craft for over 2,000 years."

Don't think that Ynet is alone. HaAretz often publishes articles that go well beyond criticism of the government and are clearly anti-Zionist. The Jerusalem Post with its reputation for being a right wing pro-Zionist newspaper nevertheless publishes articles, in the name of free speech and broadmindedness of course, articles by leftwing Israelis that spew self hatred.

Moreover, both YNet and the Jerusalem Post publish on a regular basis the most revolting anti-religious articles that ferociously attack the Torah community in Israel with such venom, using the standard anti-Semitic myths to slander a whole population. They don't seem to realise that had these articles been published in any non-Israeli media outlet they would be condemned as outright anti-Semitism. Israeli newspaper editors justify these articles by claiming that a good juicy "Dos" bashing piece sells newspapers and generates plenty of page hits on their site, whether from anti-religious secular Israelis or from incensed and irate religious Jews.

Now let me quote from the main editorial (not an opinion piece) of an Israeli newspaper, published in Hebrew and English that is unashamedly pro Israel and pro Jewish:

The Arabs of Israel, aided by compatriots and sympathizers around the world, recently added a new tact to their agenda of discrediting the Jewish State of Israel.

They are doing everything in their ability to negate historic Jewish claims to the land and are endeavoring, wherever and whenever they can, to erase anything that proves Jewish connection to the land.

The compliant world media and Western powers enable their tale of fiction to grow and gain legitimacy, and provide a platform to promote their fictionalized, distorted, revisionist history of the Holy Land.

No longer is the Meoras Hamachpeilah referred to as the Cave of the Patriarchs. When the media writes about it, they state that “the Jews call the building the Cave of the Patriarchs and the Muslims refer to it as the Ibrahimi Mosque.”

This Arab neighborhood was built illegally on park land which Yerushalayim’s mayor wanted to tear down to restore the original beauty.

In fact, last week, on February 25, the New York Times reported in an article entitled “More Clashes Over Israeli Claim to Shrine” that, “Zahran Abu Qubeita, the mayor of Yatta, a nearby Palestinian town, came on Thursday to pray at the Ibrahimi Mosque. ‘It is an Islamic site, not a Jewish one,’ he said.”

When referring to Kever Rachel, they make sure to let you know that the Arabs refer to the burial place of Rachel as "Quibbat Raqhil", and inform you that there are multiple claims to the area.

This canard was oft repeated last week after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had the ‘audacity’ to announce that he was adding the Meoras Hamachpeilah in Chevron and Kever Rachel in Bait Lechem to the list of official sites of Jewish heritage in the Jewish land which the government spends money on renovation and preserving.

The routine government action recognizes two of the oldest and most famous Jewish religious and historical sites in the world, and whose ancient connection to the roots of the Jewish people are clearly mentioned in the Chumash.

Not only are the Arabs protesting, but so is the US government as well as other Western countries. Not to be left out, the United Nations has also lodged a protest against the Israeli government designation.

State Department spokesman Mark Toner said that the Obama administration viewed the Israeli designation to be “provocative” and “unhelpful” to the goal of getting back to the negotiating table. He added that the US displeasure with the declaration had been conveyed to senior Israeli officials by American diplomats.

On Monday, Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah complained about Arab “silence” in the face of Israel’s restatement of the Jewish claim to the holy sites. Nasrallah claimed that the Israeli action constituted a threat to Islamic holy sites, and that nobody was actually defending them except the Palestinians.

That same day, the Palestinian Authority held its cabinet meeting in Chevron as a form of protest against the designation.

In Chevron, there has long been a de facto agreement between the Muslims and the Jews on sharing access to Meoras Hamachpelah, which the Muslims have traditionally revered as the burial place of Avraham Avinu, and treated as a mosque. However, until just 25 years ago, Muslims had shown little if any special regard for Kever Rachel, other than its Jewish origins, which are recognized in the Koran. In fact, an Ottoman decree gave Jews living in Israel the right of access to Kever Rachel at the beginning of the nineteenth century.

However, now that it is under Jewish control, Arabs have begun claiming that it is a mosque. They have named it after an Ethiopian slave woman who served in the household of the founder of their religion.

RECOGNIZING THE JEWISH HERITAGE

At the cabinet meeting at which the designation was announced, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explained the rationale. “Our existence here in our country depends not only on the strength of the Israeli army and our economic and technological might. It is anchored, first and foremost, in our national and emotional legacy, which we instill in our youth and in the coming generations. It depends on cultural heroes and national symbols. It depends on our ability to recognize and explain the justice of our cause, and to underscore our links to the land, first and foremost, to ourselves as well as to others,” Netanyahu added.

Both Netanyahu and Israeli president, Shimon Peres, have described the Arab protests as an artificial attempt to stir up trouble.

A State Department spokesman said that the United States had “asked both parties to refrain from provocative and unilateral actions” that might further hamper US efforts to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

PA AND ISRAELI LEFTISTS STILL SEE EYE TO EYE

Hamdan Taha, director of the PA Tourism Minister’s antiquity department called the Israel designation, “an act of aggression against the cultural and religious rights of the Palestinian people. Instead of making use of heritage to promote peace, it is being used as a means to promote war,” Taha said. He insisted that designating them as Jewish heritage sites “reflects an artificial history that solely serves Israel’s settlement policy.”

Chaim Oron the chairman of the left-wing Israeli Meretz party also criticized the designation. “This is another attempt to blur the borders between Israel and the occupied territories. All it needs is a bit of pressure from the right, and Netanyahu falls into line. This decision puts Netanyahu’s Bar-Ilan declaration of two states for two peoples in an absurd light,” Oron told a reporter for Yediot Achronot.

This unashamedly and blatantly pro-Israel editorial was published in last week's Yated Neeman. Yes that's right. A so called anti-Zionist Chareidi black newspaper. (See Wikipedia article which clearly states that Yated Neeman is Anti-Zionist).

You cannot even claim that the article is only pro settlement of Eretz Yisrael. The editorial clearly states at the very beginning :

"their agenda of discrediting the Jewish State of Israel".

Please don't think that this article is an apparition. There are articles like these published in Yated on a regular basis.

Are they Anti-Zionist?

It is true that if you ask most Chareidim if they are Zionists, the answer will probably be No! However, ask the same people if they support the State of Israel and Jewish control of land of Israel and they will answer Yes!

This apparent contradiction occurs because secular Jews define Zionism as support for Israel whereas Chareidim are using the original classical definition of the term. Zionism was in its origin, an anti Torah secular movement that grew up along side Communism, Socialism, Bundism, Fascism and many other "ism"s whose objective was to tear down the established society and build a new secular world based on humanistic values. Zionism was indeed a direct threat to Torah. The Zionist movement's goal was to seek out Jewish youth and persuade them to reject G-d and His Torah and turn them into good secular farmers, all be it in Eretz Yisrael.

At the founding of the state, the early Zionist leadership took in Jewish immigrants from all over the world and put them in absorption camps. Their goal was to "civilise" the "backward" Jewish youth and strip them of their Jewishness. I remember some 30 years ago publically crying in a Chareidi home in Yerushalayim after I proudly proclaimed that I was  Zionist. One guest there. an elderly softly spoken man, described how a madrich had burnt his tephilin in front of his younger brother's and his eyes upon entering the absorption camp. Despite this, both his brother and himself came out believing Jews. They were the exception though.

So, no the Chareidim are not Zionists yet they recognise that the State of Israel is an open miracle by Hashem. After 2,000 years we are back in the land of Israel as rulers. There are more Jews sitting and learning Torah today in Eretz Yisrael then there have been at any time in the past 2,000 years in Galus. The centre of Torah decisions come from Israel and the Jews look to Eretz Yisrael as their spiritual and perhaps physical home.

Here's to the most Zionist (whoops ! Pro-State of Israel) Newspaper in the country. "Yated Neeman".
